Our Work
Bipolar Scissors: The program encompassed the design and development of Bipolar Scissors through engineering analysis, design, solid modeling and prototypes to demonstrate basic technical feasibility and overall product appearance.
Blood Culture Identification Station: User research, industrial design and mechanical engineering through production.
Cell Culturing: Developed an automated cell culturing system based on technology that was successfully deployed in numerous Space Shuttle missions, for the commercial and academic laboratory markets.
Dry Powder Inhaler: Developed a disposable device capable of dispensing multiple dosages via indexing a powder coated surface in the inhaler and striking it with a triggering mechanism, dissipating the medicine into the patient’s airway. Design and engineering through manufacture including machine design.
Incubator / Warmer Combination: Redesign to improve manufacturability, stability and safety; also incorporated specialized monitoring equipment. Extensive user research, and led design and engineering efforts.
Karmanos Cancer Institute: Performed study to assess technology for the reconstruction and display of three dimensional ultrasonic views for breast cancer screening. Worked with Lawrence Livermore Labs.
Micro-Positioning Scanner: Completed the design and breadboard development of a confocal microscope for the detection of skin lesions; integrated precision stepper motors; redesigned the optics, electronics and mechanical packaging.
Microvasive Endoscopy: Endoscopic Clipping Device: Industrial Design, human factors engineering and mechanical engineering of a handle for a single use mechanical clip delivery system, for the treatment of peptic ulcer bleeding, deployed through a flexible gastroscope and colonoscope.
Microvasive Endoscopy Colonic Stent System: Redesigned a partially developed engineering concept, improved human factors, assembly, and part performance. Extensive use of FEA. Finalized manufacturing and device file information.
Portable Blood Analyzer: Development of a self contained POC analyzer using a combination of special techniques and chemistries on board a disposable cell with ISE sensors that can be manufactured inexpensively. We commercialized the technology and developed the software and hardware, packaging and design, handled all testing, submission and verification plus production alliances through manufacturing alliances.
Portable Ultrasound Systems: Worked with customer developing several generations of ultrasound platforms starting with a truly portable system that was an industry first.
Retractable 3-piece I/C Syringe & Safety Sleeve Syringe: Explored different solutions to optimize and improve an existing syringe design. Concept engineering through prototypes and engineering documentation. Variation of retractable device currently on market.
St. Jude TSPV Valve Implant: Developed concepts and technique for the improvement of the TSPV valve implanting.
Surgical Lights, Imaging Tables & O.R. Waste Disposal Systems: Full service programs from user research through proof-of-principal prototypes and field-testing. Recently completed a tabletop transition mechanism and brake for a patient positioning imaging.
Topical Adhesive Application System: Engineering development of a delivery device that provided easy and accurate delivery of the skin adhesive, requiring a minimum amount of procedural steps while reducing the likelihood of infection.
Ultrasound Scanner: Award winning design of a portable digital ultrasound scanner. Research through final engineering and production of system and cart.
