The design and development of the stent delivery device for Boston Scientific was unusually challenging in that the device needed to be comfortable and easy to use while providing sufficient force to unsheathe the stent, yet be low cost for disposability, and fail safe. EDGE Medica was able to quickly develop the device by using 3D kinematics and finite element analysis software to determine loads, forces and part strength, coupled with EDGE Medica's proprietary human factors software to determine optimum grip and force for a variety of user surgeons.
